The first photos to send
Show the room, the opening and the detail you want to change.
Start wide
Send one full room or entrance view. For an exterior opening, include both inside and outside. Keep enough context to show nearby trim, floor and wall finishes.
Then show the detail
Add the door edge and hinges, the threshold or frame, or a close trim-profile view. A ruler beside the detail can help describe scale; it is not a final measurement.
Give the photos a room name
Use simple labels such as front entry, hall bath or bedroom one. Say what stays, what changes and what troubles you about the current condition. Share only the project information needed for review.
What stays. What changes. What needs measuring.
A simple three-part room list keeps the scope understandable.
Keep
List the frames, trim, hardware, flooring and nearby finishes that should remain. Include anything that must be protected or matched.
Change
Name the new pieces by room and describe the desired result. Separate required work from optional ideas so the proposal can keep them clear.
Measure
Mark dimensions as approximate or confirmed and identify who checked them. Door thickness, hinge/latch preparation, wall depth and thresholds can matter as much as height and width. Do not remove finishes or use unsafe access to gather information.
Build a small finish palette
Choose a few connected references before making every selection.
Choose the anchor
Begin with the most visible retained feature or the first new decision: a wood door, painted trim or a hardware finish. Bring a clear reference for it into the conversation.
Compare in the actual room
Review scale, sheen and color beside retained finishes and in the home's light. Similar finish names and screen colors do not guarantee a match.
Record the exact choice
After the direction is settled, identify the actual product, profile, material, size and finish. Keep alternates separate from the approved selection.
A field brief for remodeling teams
Make the estimate traceable to the opening and its existing conditions.
One label per opening or detail
Use a job reference and room/opening labels across photos, dimensions and the scope list. Identify the revision and any item whose measurement is still pending.
Record the exceptions
Show out-of-square frames, unusual wall depth, discontinued profiles, floor-height changes and access constraints. State whether the request is supply only or includes a defined installation scope.
Separate base, alternates and surrounding work
Keep optional replacements and exact-match requests visible. Name responsibility for removal, protection, preparation and final finishes. Agree changes before releasing a revised package.
Before you agree the proposal
Check the materials, measuring responsibility and work around the installation.
Check the material list
Review every affected room, exact product selection, quantities, finish basis and any alternates. Make sure retained pieces and exceptions are written down.
Check the work list
Identify who measures, removes, disposes, prepares, installs and completes adjacent finishes. Confirm how unforeseen conditions and changes will be reviewed.
Check the plan for the home
Discuss occupied areas, clear access, pets, site protection and the contact for coordination. Delivery and any installation timing follow the agreed scope and readiness; an inquiry is not an appointment.
Questions, answeredBefore the next step.
Can I start without plans or a trade account?
Yes. Homeowners can begin with a name, contact details, city or ZIP and a description of the change. Photos, inspiration and plans are optional. You do not need a company name or a trade account.
Is this for one small improvement or several rooms?
Either can begin a conversation. Tell us the affected areas and what you want to change. The team will review the request and confirm the supported material and work scope.
Do you help professional remodelers?
Yes. Share the job reference, matching needs, field-condition photos, measurements and estimating stage. Existing trade relationships continue through their agreed account process; new account arrangements require separate review.
Will someone come out and measure?
The team first reviews your request and identifies what needs verification. Any site visit or measuring service, its scope and any applicable charge must be discussed and agreed. Submitting the request does not book an appointment or a free visit.
Can I request installation as well as materials?
Yes. Tell us the work you want help with. The proposal will define any agreed installation and identify responsibility for removal, preparation, disposal and surrounding finishes.
Can you manage every trade in my renovation?
This experience covers residential doors, trim and millwork, hardware, windows and sliding doors, stairs and access, and established architectural finish details. Coordinate the rest of your renovation with your remodeling team; the proposal defines Abel's agreed work.
Can you guarantee an exact match from a photo?
A photo helps identify the direction. Profile dimensions, material, preparation and actual product references or samples may be needed before a match can be confirmed.
What happens after I send a request?
Your submitted details give the team a basis to review the location, desired changes and next information needed. The inquiry requests a conversation; it does not confirm availability, a price, an appointment or an installation date.
