Release doors and trim to the build—not to the purchase order
How to structure house, unit, building, and phase releases without turning the jobsite into a warehouse.
Define the release unit
Choose the smallest useful package: house, unit type, building, floor, area, or milestone. The release unit should match how the field receives and installs the material.
Name the readiness gate
A requested date is not the same as a ready site. Capture access, field contact, storage conditions, and predecessor work before dispatch.
Keep exceptions attached
Shortages, damage, returns, and changes should remain tied to the affected release. A loose punch list loses the project context.
