Beams, mantels & closets

House-specific finish details, measured and described within the package.

Scope and approach

Give each detail a location

Identify decorative beam routes, mantel locations, closet bays and specialty details on the current plan. Record lengths, profiles, material and finish rather than an unnamed allowance.

Confirm the boundaries

A decorative wrap is not a structural beam design. Mantels need review against actual fireplace requirements. Closet work follows the specified system, dimensions and included components.

  • Beam routes and linear footage
  • Mantel drawings and fireplace requirements
  • Closet layouts, clearances and finish basis

What to bring.

  • Which locations and dimensions are shown?
  • Are elements decorative or structural by others?
  • Which fireplace documents or specialty drawings apply?
From review to agreed work

Plan the scope.

Mark the scope

Attach the detail to its room, plan reference and dimensions.

Resolve the detail

Review material, finish, clearances, interfaces and project drawings where needed.

Approve the inclusion

Keep the detail and alternates explicit, with delivery and installation responsibilities stated.

Questions, answered

Before the next step.

Can a beam or mantel be an option?

Yes. Keep it separately described for builder approval, including location, dimensions, material, finish and installation scope.

Can you reproduce a detail from a photograph?

A photograph communicates direction. The actual detail needs measurements, material and construction review, clearances and approved scope.
